San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District

Sycamore Homes Association would like to thank Andres Arrizon, Community Risk Reduction Inspector of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, who recently presented Emergency Preparedness: A Residents Guide to Emergency Preparedness and Evacuation at the main clubhouse.  The class focused on earthquake and wildfire safety, two natural risks in our area, including the importance of personal and family disaster readiness.  Knowing how to survive after a major emergency is critical.  A family communication plan, including emergency contacts, evacuation plans, escape routes and safe places should be established.  Prepare a 7-day emergency kit for your home, work and the car before a crisis occurs.  Pets should also have a disaster supply kit readily accessible.  Emergency planning should include preparing your home by making a record of your possessions, reducing home hazards, familiarizing yourself with utility shut off procedures and preparing a food and water supply.  For clear and thorough help in preparing family disaster supplies over a six-month period, the SRVFPD offers a Preparedness Calendar, available in the office, to assist in coping with community hazards and emergencies.

 

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) and Wildlife Preparedness are additional classes offered by the district.  Please see their website if you are interested in learning more.
