GENERAL
1. Facilities and grounds are available to members and their guests from 6:00 am to dark. The pool is closed from dark until 6:00 am of the next day. Any programs that continue after dark must be approved by the SHA Board prior to use.
2. Use of the pool or common areas by members and guests is at their own risk. The Association will not assume responsibility for illness, accident or injury suffered in or about the pools.
3. The lifeguard, when on duty, is in complete charge of the pools and adjacent lounging areas. The judgment of the lifeguard shall prevail as to proper dress, conduct, and all other pool matters.
4. Lessons: No more than four lessons may be given at one time at both pools. The time limit for a lesson is 30 minutes. After 2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, lessons may be given only to Sycamore residents. After 1:30 pm on Fridays and on the weekends, lessons may be given only to Sycamore residents
5. The Tot pool is reserved for children age six (6) and under. All children must be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
a. Swim diapers (swimmers) must be worn by infants and toddlers as all times while in the pools.
6. Only swimsuits may be worn in the pool. Street clothes, including cut-offs and athletic wear, are NOT permitted in the pool. T-shirts may be worn to prevent sunburn.
7. No bicycles, skateboards, roller blades or other wheeled toys may be ridden in the pool area or in the swimming pool.
8. No bicycles are permitted inside the fenced area. Bicycles must be parked in the bike rack or outside the fence in the designated area.
9. During safety breaks, only people 18 years of age and older will be allowed to remain in the water. Break times will take place every hour from 15 minutes to the hour until on the hour. The first safety break will begin at 12:45 pm.
10. The ADA Ramp and base area must not be used as a parking area nor play area and should be kept clear at all times.
11. The ADA lift is for use only by persons needing assistance in entering and exiting the pool. The lift is not to be used as a chair or as a plaything.
12. Any SHA resident willfully permitting use of his/her membership will be subject to disciplinary action and possible termination of membership privileges.
13. The Association manager will notify members of any misconduct on the part of their children, guests or other permanent residents. If the misconduct continues, the person may be suspended from the premises.
14. The Association is not responsible for articles or property that are lost or
stolen.
ADMISSION
1. Admission to all pools will be controlled by the use of keys. All members using the pools are required to have their key with them at all times.
2. All members must report to the sign-in table upon entering the main pool. The entry gates on all pools must remain locked at all times when not in use.
3. Guests: will be accorded the privileges of the pool only when accompanied by an adult member (resident) and only while the member (resident) is present. When a member (resident) leaves, all guests of that member must leave. Members (residents) are responsible for the actions and conduct of their guests.
The maximum number of guests for each (adult member) is limited to six (6)
4. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult or by a babysitter/nanny qualifying as a responsible supervising person.
5. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. However, children with a Sycamore Patch between 8-14 can be at the pool without an adult as long as the lifeguard is on duty. Parents should approach a sycamore lifeguard to obtain a Sycamore patch application and emergency information card, and then arrange for a Sycamore lifeguard to administer the test. When the aquatic test is passed the lifeguard will sign the application. The completion of this form will allow the purchase of a Sycamore patch for ($1) payable to the lifeguard on duty. The wearing of a Sycamore patch on the child’s bathing suit, acknowledges that the person may be allowed to swim in the presence of a lifeguard without being accompanied by an adult.
The Patch guidelines:
1. Swimming two lengths of the pool using any combination of strokes acceptable to the lifeguard without stopping to rest;
2. Diving from the diving board and swimming to the nearest edge of the pool;
3. Remaining afloat for a period of two minutes either by treading water, floating on one’s back, or a combination of either method;
4. Learn Pool Rules and pass verbal test.
HEALTH & SAFETY
1. Persons with open cuts, sores, and/or bandages will not be allowed in the water at any time.
2. Showers should be used before and after entering the pool. The showers are not to be used with soap for bathing, washing of hair, etc.
3. Food and beverages shall not be consumed within five (5) feet of the pool edge. Beverages must be in unbreakable containers.
4. No glass objects of any type are allowed inside the fenced area at any time.
5. No pets are allowed inside the fenced area at any time.
6. No running, pushing or tag games are allowed on the pool deck area.
7. Pool toys and other aquatic paraphernalia shall be allowed only at the discretion of the lifeguard. Air mattresses, surfboards and other large floating devices are not allowed.
8. The lifeguard stands are restricted for use by LIFEGUARDS ONLY. No one other than the lifeguards should stand, sit or jump from the stands.
9. Personal conduct in the pool and adjacent areas must be such that the safety of self and others is not jeopardized.
10. No social conversation with the lifeguards while they are on duty is allowed.
11. No hanging or sitting of the safety ropes or lane ropes is allowed.
12. No more than one person is allowed on the diving board at any time.
13. No diving is permitted except where indicated.
14. No double bounces or sitting on the diving board are allowed.
15. No improper usage of pool furniture or equipment.
The above rules are effective at all times and apply to the members, their family and their guests. Management reserves the right to suspend a member, ask the individual to leave, and/or recommend a time suspension for those who violate these rules. Management and pool staff are in charge of enforcing the Swimming Pool Rules and Regulations. In addition, they are authorized to establish temporary rules to deal with situations that may arise, and to take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
